The archaeological museum

The archaeological museum is located in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, which can be reached from the Duomo (cathedral) following via dei Servi until you reach Piazza Santissima Annunziata at its end.

Opening hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and the first Sunday of the month from 8:30 am to 2 pm, Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 10 pm and Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 7 pm. Closed on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month.
Price : 8 €.

 

The museum was inaugurated in 1880 in a 17th century palace. On the second floor, the most interesting collection concerns Etruscan art. The most famous pieces are the Chimera of Arezzo, discovered in 1553, the statue of the Orator from the 2nd century B.C. and a bronze Minerva, a Roman copy of a work by Praxiteles.
